Description
Klein built this set for players chasing the real 1959 P.A.F. sound, not just the look. Every part on the spec sheet is vintage-correct: threaded nickel-silver alloy baseplates, double black butyrate bobbins, 42-gauge dark purple plain enamel wire, and Klein’s own reproduction long-bar Alnico magnet — one that skips the harsh, glassy top end some modern repros get wrong. The polepieces and keeper bar are made from a proprietary vintage alloy exclusive to Klein, and everything is wired with steel-braided 2-conductor hookup wire, just like the originals wore.
Tonally, this is the hotter ’59 flavor — think Les Paul Custom stepping in after the Gold Top era. Average output sits around 7.9k for both neck and bridge, wound with Klein’s traversed-turn, asymmetric coil method rather than a fixed spec, so each coil breathes a little differently the way real vintage examples do. Expect a fat, punchy low end with just enough lower-mid weight to keep chords from getting muddy, a smooth top end with plenty of presence, and that slightly compressed, sweet push in the mids and highs players describe when comparing these to actual ’59 units.
