Description
The Bartolini 72MM5C is a bridge-position humbucker built to drop into 5-string basses using the Music Man footprint, sized for string spacing up to 72mm. It belongs to Bartolini’s Classic Bass (CB) series, a passive pickup line designed around a wider, more resonant frequency window than typical soapbar humbuckers.
Instead of the compressed, mid-heavy voice common to a lot of passive designs, the CB series pulls extra clarity and “air” out of the top end while keeping the low end and low-mids intact underneath. The result is a pickup that stays punchy and full without sounding boxed in — useful whether you’re slapping, fingerstyle picking, or digging in with a pick.
Each pickup is epoxy-potted, which locks the coil windings in place to kill microphonic squeal and unwanted feedback, especially handy at stage volume or under gain. For 5-string players, the CNC-machined blade poles are the real workhorse feature here: they spread evenly across a wide string range on a medium-radius fingerboard, so you’re not fighting uneven output from string to string the way you can with round polepieces.
- Passive dual-coil humbucker, Music Man bridge shape
- Fits up to 72mm string spacing (5-string)
- Bartolini Classic Bass (CB) series voicing
- Epoxy-cast construction for feedback and microphonic resistance
- CNC-machined blade poles for even string-to-string balance
If your current bridge pickup feels dull on top or uneven across the strings, this is a straightforward, drop-in way to open things up.
