Description
The Bartolini 72W5C-T is the bridge-position member of the Classic Bass (CB) series, wearing the wider W5 soapbar shape and wired as a true dual-coil humbucker (W5CBC configuration). It’s a passive pickup, so no preamp or battery is required — just plug in and let the coils do the talking.
What sets the CB series apart from a lot of passive bass pickups is the extended frequency response. Instead of the usual dark, rolled-off top end you get from many passive designs, these pickups open up with more “air” and top-end definition, while keeping the lows and low-mids intact underneath. That means more pick and finger detail cutting through a mix without losing the weight that makes a 5-string worth playing in the first place.
Each pickup is cast in epoxy, which locks the coils down tight to kill unwanted microphonics and feedback — handy if you’re running high gain or standing near a loud stage rig. The 5-string versions use CNC-machined blade polepieces rather than fixed magnets, so string spacing isn’t locked to one layout. That gives you excellent, even balance across all five strings even on boards with medium curvature, and more flexibility if your bass has non-standard string spacing.
- W5 soapbar shape, bridge position (T)

- Passive design with epoxy potting
- CNC-machined blade polepieces for wide string-spacing coverage

Pair it with the matching neck unit for a balanced 5-string set, or drop it in solo to sharpen up a bridge tone that’s gone muddy.
