This Bartolini set pairs the 8S Precision pickup with the 9JL1 split-coil, hum-cancelling Jazz pickup for a P/J combo that’s voiced to balance rather than compete. The 8S leans into vintage P territory with generous lows and low-mids, while the 9JL1 pushes a touch more growl and brightness out of the bridge position than Bartolini’s older 94J design, without losing that low-end weight.
Since both pickups use hum-cancelling coil designs, you get quiet, noise-free output ready for stage or studio.
To take the guesswork out of your build, this set ships with Bartolini’s HR3.4/918 prewired harness — a 3-band EQ preamp with premium potentiometers already wired and configured, so you’re not stuck troubleshooting cold solder joints or preamp wiring diagrams. The harness includes:
- One Volume hole: Neck Volume/Bridge Volume stack
- Two Tone holes: Treble/Bass stack, plus Mid control with 2-frequency push-pull
- A second battery clip for optional 18V operation, wiring instructions, and black ring/center knobs for the tone stack
