Description
The 9J1-L/S gives you the proper vintage-correct J Bass geometry: a 3-3/4″ long pickup for the bridge and a 3-5/8″ short pickup for the neck, exactly matching original Fender J Bass proportions. Both use Bartolini’s dual in-line coil layout for genuine hum cancellation, and each is epoxy-cast solid to kill microphonics and unwanted feedback before they start.
Tonally, this is the set players reach for when they want a J-bass that digs in low without getting boomy or thin in the mids — deep fundamentals, strong low end, and a low-mid character that sits well in a mix. Since neck and bridge lengths differ in a real J Bass, fit matters: if your instrument uses two long pickups, you’d want the LN neck-specific variant instead of a standard short, and vice versa for dual-short setups. Always double-check your existing pickup dimensions before ordering.
This set arrives wired straight to Bartolini’s HR3.4/918 harness, eliminating the soldering guesswork of a from-scratch preamp install. The harness runs a 3-band EQ with a Neck Volume/Bridge Volume stacked pot, plus a second stacked control combining Treble/Bass with Mid (featuring push-pull selection between two mid frequencies). It ships with a second battery clip for 18V operation, full wiring instructions, and black ring and center knobs for the tone stack.
- Fits standard 4-string J Bass routing, 0.73″ / 18.42mm width (ears excluded)
- Dual in-line coils for hum-cancelling passive output
- Epoxy potted for feedback and microphonic resistance
- Pre-wired HR3.4/918 preamp harness: 3-band EQ, dual stacked pots, 9V/18V capable
