Description
The Bartolini 9S-L is a drop-in replacement pickup for the Fender Jazz Bassu00ae, built in the ‘long’ bridge length and prized by bassists and luthiers who want maximum bottom-end weight from their J-style setup. Part of Bartolini’s Original series, it’s a passive single-coil design, so you get straightforward J Bass tone without any onboard preamp to worry about.
Like the rest of the Original series, the 9S-L is cast in epoxy rather than left open-coil. That potting locks the windings down tight, killing microphonic squeal and unwanted hum-induced feedback so you can dig in hard without the pickup talking back.
A quick fit note before you order: stock J Basses actually use two different pickup lengths — a 3-5/8″ neck pickup and a slightly longer 3-3/4″ bridge pickup. The 9S-L is that longer bridge-length unit. Some modern J Bass builds swap the neck for a second long pickup too; if yours is one of them, look for the LN (long neck) version rather than dropping a bridge pickup into the neck slot. A small handful of basses even run two short pickups. Measure what’s currently in your bass before ordering to be sure the 9S-L will drop straight in.
