Description
Rewiring a bass with a new preamp is one of those jobs that eats an entire afternoon — until you skip it entirely. The Bartolini HR2.5AP/918 arrives already assembled with the pots, pre-amp, and switching wired point to point, so installation is really just mounting hardware and making connections at the pickups and output jack.
At the core is Bartolini’s 3-band EQ pre-amp, controlled through four pots on your control plate: one Volume knob doubles as an Active/Passive switch via push-pull, giving you a true passive bypass if your amp dies or you just want raw pickup character for a set. The other three pots handle Treble, Mid, and Bass, and the Mid control has its own push-pull for switching between two frequency centers — useful if you’re chasing a scoop for slap one night and a punchier growl the next.
Runs on 9V or 18V, and Bartolini includes a second battery clip in the box so you can wire it for the extra headroom of 18V operation whenever you’re ready. Wiring instructions are included too, though the harness is largely plug-and-play once you know where each lead goes.
