The HR4.6/918 sidesteps all of that: Bartolini pre-builds the entire harness around their 918 preamp and top-shelf audio pots, so you’re pulling out old electronics and dropping in a finished, road-ready assembly instead of a pile of parts and a schematic.
At the core is a 3-band EQ voiced through Bartolini’s 918 preamp circuit, controlled via two dual-concentric pot stacks rather than a row of separate knobs. One stack handles Volume and Blend; the other covers Treble/Bass (stacked) and Mid, with a push-pull switch that flips between two mid frequency options. That’s serious tonal range from just two control holes—handy if you’re retrofitting a bass that wasn’t drilled for a full EQ section.
Everything ships ready to wire straight into your pickups and jack, with instructions included so there’s no guesswork on which lead goes where. A second battery clip is in the box too, for players who want to run the preamp on 18V for extra headroom instead of the standard 9V.
