Description
The Bartolini MM4CBC is the bridge-position half of the Classic Bass (CB) series, engineered specifically for Music Man-style 4-string basses. If you’ve found MM pickups a bit dark or compressed in the highs, this is Bartolini’s answer: a passive humbucker that opens up the upper frequencies and adds real definition and “air” up top, while keeping the low end and low-mids fully intact.
Like the rest of the CB series, this pickup is fully potted in epoxy, which locks the coil windings in place to kill microphonic squeal and unwanted feedback — useful if you’re running higher stage volumes or gain-heavy rigs. Inside, CNC-machined blade polepieces replace traditional round magnets, giving even string-to-string output across fingerboards with 50mm to 59mm string spacing and medium curvature. That means better balance from the low B (on 5-strings) up through the G, without the volume dips you sometimes get from misaligned pole placement.
As a dual-coil design in the wider MM soapbar housing, it’s built for players who want the classic Music Man growl and midrange punch but with more clarity and top-end shimmer layered in — great for slap, fingerstyle, or pick playing where note definition matters.
