Description
The PBF77D is the bridge half of Bartolini’s Rock’n’Roll pairing, designed to cut through with power while staying articulate under gain. Where a lot of high-output humbuckers turn to mush past a certain volume, this one holds its shape — you get thickness and drive without losing note separation, which matters once you start stacking distortion.
It’s part of the PBF line, developed by Bill Bartolini alongside Ed Reynolds — a guitar builder and repairman with roots in 1970s/80s Chicago who later moved his focus to Austin, Texas and dedicated himself fully to electric guitar work. Together they aimed to distill classic vintage humbucker character into a modern, consistent design, and the PBF series is the result.
Every PBF pickup is epoxy-cast, which locks the coil windings down tight and kills unwanted feedback and microphonic noise — useful when you’re running higher gain and don’t want the pickup itself adding unwanted squeal.
This particular listing is finished in a gold-plated cover, giving it a clean, classic look that suits everything from a late-’50s-style Les Paul to a semi-hollow to something built for heavier territory. If you want the raw, uncovered tone instead, PBF pickups are also offered with ABS covers in black or white, plus chrome and nickel-plated metal options.
