Description
Long before boutique pickups were a thing, Jzchak Wajcman was already winding them. He founded the original Lawrence Electrosound Guitar Pickup Company back in 1965, and the L-500XL you’re looking at here comes off that same lineage – same tooling, same specs, same twin-blade design that landed in the original Dimebag Darrell “Dean from Hell” and Nuno Bettencourt signature Washburn guitars.
- Twin-blade humbucker construction (not traditional pole pieces) for tight, even string-to-string response
- Hot output voicing suited to aggressive lead and rhythm work in either neck or bridge position
- Black plastic housing, genuinely stamped “*Bill Lawrence USA” on the back – the mark of authentic Wajcman-made units
- 4-conductor wiring for full flexibility with series, parallel, or split coil setups
This isn’t a reissue-of-a-reissue. Wajcman is still the only source producing the original L-500 line, and these are the same pickups Stewart-MacDonald carried for nearly two decades. Every unit is wound and built in California, with final assembly and setup handled in San Diego. If you want the actual pickup behind that era of shred tone rather than something inspired by it, this is it.
