Delano’s Times Square series proves you don’t have to trade single-coil character for silence. The JC5 TF/M2-AS is a split-coil design that cancels hum outright while retaining the touch-sensitive, harmonically rich response players expect from a true J-style pickup.
The secret is in the pole pieces: slim, rectangular Toferrite blades tuned to track subtle picking dynamics rather than smear them. Combined with decades of Delano’s winding and magnet-pairing know-how, the result is a pickup that responds to how you actually play, not just how hard.
Installed as a matched set, the two pickups split the tonal work convincingly. The neck unit leans into growl and a velvety low-mid thickness, topped with just enough glassy shimmer to keep things articulate. The bridge pickup answers with a punchy, percussive attack and a tight low end, opening up into an airy top end that keeps notes from feeling boxed in.
Wiring is kept simple with shielded 1-conductor cable, and the whole set is sized as a direct replacement for Fender American Standard 5-string Jazz Bass® routing—no modification required.
