Description
The Air Norton (DP193) began life as an experiment: what would the Norton sound like with DiMarzio’s Air magnetic structure? The answer turned out to be one of the most-loved neck humbuckers around. It’s deep and warm but never congested, hot-sounding without tipping into distortion, and it throws off harmonic detail that’s rare for a neck pickup. That Air structure reduces string pull, which means better sustain and a noticeably more expressive response to pick attack and dynamics.
While it made its name in the neck slot, plenty of players run the Air Norton in the bridge too, where it delivers medium output, firm low end, and biting harmonic content – especially good for medium-output blues-rock tones. In the neck, pair it with 500K pots for extra treble and harmonic sparkle. In the bridge, try 250K controls, or a 500K volume with a 250K tone to warm up the highs slightly. It teams up well with an Air Zone, Tone Zone, or Steve’s Special in the bridge, or with an Air Classic Bridge model for a classic dual-Air setup. It also plays nicely with single-coils like The Cruiser, The Chopper, and Blue Velvet.
This listing is the F-Spaced version in black/creme zebra, built for solidbody and semi-hollow guitars.
