Description
DiMarzio built the Air Norton as the Airbucker take on the Norton, expecting a snarly high-gain bridge pickup. What they got instead was one of their most convincing neck humbuckers — deep, warm, and touch-sensitive without ever turning to mud. The patented Air Norton magnetic structure cuts string pull for longer sustain and lets your pick attack come through with real dynamic range, including some unusually cool harmonic content for a neck unit. It plays especially well with 500K pots for extra treble sparkle, and pairs naturally with hotter bridge pickups like Air Zone, The Tone Zone, or Steve’s Special when you want a wider power spread across the set.
In the bridge slot, the DP160FBK Norton (F-Spaced) lands tonally between FRED and The Tone Zone — borrowing FRED’s nasty harmonic edge and The Tone Zone’s midrange heft. That same dual-resonance design gives it a bigger, hotter voice than any vintage-style humbucker, while staying short of full distortion-class output. It’s arguably DiMarzio’s most flexible bridge pickup, equally at home with Air Classic, PAF 36th Anniversary, PAF Pro, or its own neck sibling. Try it with 250K controls for a rounder feel, or a 500K volume/250K tone blend to thicken up the highs.
Built for solid body and semi-hollow guitars, this black F-spaced set is a strong choice for players chasing a medium-output blues-rock voice with headroom to spare. A free set of D’Addario EXL125 Super Light Top/Regular Bottom strings is included.
