The DiMarzio Air Norton S (DP180) takes everything guitarists love about the full-size Air Norton humbucker and squeezes it into a Strat-sized single-coil cover. Skip the air gap between magnet and pole pieces that defines the original Airbucker design, and what you’re left with is a pickup that sounds, feels, and outputs so close to its big brother that DiMarzio couldn’t justify a different name.
Warm and evenly balanced across the frequency spectrum, this is the pickup players reach for in the neck position of trem-loaded guitars chasing that fluid, progressive-rock lead tone. But don’t box it in there — the medium output and harmonic bite make it just as capable in the bridge for rock rhythm and lead work, handling chords and single-note runs with equal confidence. DiMarzio recommends it for any position on your Strat.
Building a full set? Pair the Air Norton S with The Tone Zone S or Super Distortion S in the bridge for a hot-rodded neck/bridge combo, or flip it to the bridge alongside a Pro Track or The Chopper in the neck. Drop a Cruiser or Fast Track 1 in the middle for extra sparkle in positions 2 and 4.
