Description
This DiMarzio set pairs two of the brand’s most-loved humbuckers, both finished in black, to cover neck warmth and bridge muscle in one shot. The DP193 Air Norton started life as an Airbucker take on the classic Norton, but it found its real calling in the neck slot: deep, open tone that stays clear even when pushed hard, plus unusual harmonic content for a neck humbucker. Its patented magnetic structure cuts down on string pull, so notes sustain longer and pick dynamics come through with real nuance. Wire it into a solid body or semi-hollow with 500K pots if you want extra treble and harmonic sparkle.
Anchoring the bridge is the DP155 Tone Zone — built for players tired of thin, buzzy bridge tone. It’s a genuinely high-output pickup, but the dynamic range is wide: dig in and it roars, back off and it cleans up nicely. Bass and low-mid response are huge, giving single notes real depth and chords a fuller spread, while the dual-resonance coil design keeps overtones present instead of getting swallowed by all that output. Split it for a convincing single-coil voice when you need it.
Together, Air Norton and Tone Zone strike a balance of power and clarity that works especially well for rock and blues-rock tones. The set ships with a bonus pack of D’Addario EXL117 Medium Top/Extra-Heavy Bottom strings.
