Description
This DiMarzio set solves the classic humbucker mismatch problem: a neck pickup that’s too dark paired with a bridge pickup that’s too shrill. The Air Norton (DP193BC) started life as an Airbucker take on the Norton, and DiMarzio quickly realized it excelled in the neck position instead. Its patented Air Norton magnetic structure cuts string pull for longer sustain, giving you a deep, open tone with surprising harmonic complexity for a neck humbucker — hot without tipping into mud or distortion. Rated at 270mV output and 12.58 Kohm DC resistance, wired 4-conductor with Alnico 5 magnets, it rewards 500K pots with extra treble sparkle.
On the bridge side sits the Tone Zone (DP155FBC) in F-spaced format, tuned for guitars with trem systems or wider string spacing. Don’t mistake its high output (375mV, 17.31 Kohm DC resistance) for a one-note aggressive pickup — dig in and it roars, back off and it cleans up nicely thanks to a genuinely wide dynamic range. Patented dual-resonance coils keep the overtones alive even at this output level, so single notes stay defined and chords sound massive rather than mushy. It’s also 4-conductor, so coil-splitting for single-coil tones is on the table.
Together they’re built for solid body and semi-hollow guitars looking for a distinctive medium-to-high output blues-rock voice, with room to fatten the highs using a 500K volume/250K tone combo if you want.
