Description
This is DiMarzio’s go-to combo for players who want warmth up front and serious weight in the bridge, without either pickup stepping on the other’s toes. The Air Norton (DP193BC) takes its cues from the classic Norton but uses DiMarzio’s patented Air magnetic structure to cut string pull, which means longer sustain and a touch response that stays expressive even when you dig in. Expect deep, open lows, a hot-but-uncompressed midrange, and harmonic overtones that are rare in a neck humbucker — try it into 500K pots if you want to push the treble and air even further.
Down at the bridge, the Tone Zone (DP155FBC) is F-spaced to keep the pole pieces lined up under wound strings on a trem or floating bridge. It’s built for players who’ve been burned by thin, buzzy bridge tone — dual-resonance coils give it huge low-mid muscle and surprising overtone complexity for something this fat-sounding, and it cleans up nicely when you back off your pick attack. Split it for a convincing single-coil voice when you need one.
Both pickups are 4-conductor, Alnico 5, and finished in Black/Creme for a classic look. This set ships with a free pair of D’Addario EXL110+ Regular Light Plus strings.
