Description
Some pickup pairings feel like they were always meant to be together, and the Air Norton/Tone Zone combo is a textbook example. This F-spaced humbucker set drops the DP193FW Air Norton into the neck and the DP155FW Tone Zone into the bridge, both finished in clean white to match your pickguard or just look sharp under stage lights. A free set of D’Addario EXL120+ Super Light Plus strings rounds out the package.
The Air Norton was originally conceived as the Airbucker take on the Norton, and while DiMarzio expected it to shine as an aggressive bridge pickup, it turned out to be an exceptional neck humbucker instead. Its patented Air Norton magnetic structure cuts down on string pull, which means better sustain and far more control over your pick attack. Expect a deep, warm voice that stays clear rather than muddy, plus surprising harmonic complexity for a neck pickup. It’s a great match for 500K pots if you want extra treble and harmonic snap.
Down at the bridge, the Tone Zone answers the age-old complaint about thin, buzzy bridge tones. It’s a high-output pickup, but with real dynamic range — dig in and it roars, back off and it cleans up nicely. Expect huge low-mid reinforcement, depth on single notes, and chords that feel massive. Patented dual-resonance coils pull out more overtone content than you’d expect from a pickup this fat, and it even cleans up well in split-coil mode for single-coil tones.
Best suited to solid body and semi-hollow guitars looking for a versatile blues-to-high-gain range.
