Description
This DiMarzio pairing solves the classic neck/bridge mismatch by putting two very different but complementary designs to work. The DP193BC Air Norton in the neck slot uses DiMarzio’s patented Air Norton magnetic structure to cut string pull, which frees up sustain and lets your pick attack come through with real nuance. It reads warm and deep without turning muddy, stays hot without tipping into mush, and throws off harmonic content that’s genuinely uncommon in a neck humbucker. Try 500K pots here to push treble and harmonic presence forward.
Down at the bridge, the DP155FBC Tone Zone (F-spaced for guitars with trem routing or wider string spacing) trades screechy high-output harshness for a wider dynamic window u2014 dig in and it delivers serious power, back off and it cleans up nicely. Bass and low-mid response is substantial, single notes carry unexpected depth, and chords sound noticeably bigger. Patented dual-resonance coils keep the overtone content lively despite the fat low end, and the coil-split mode gives you a usable single-coil voice when you want it.
Both pickups use 4-conductor wiring for full coil-splitting and phase flexibility, and both are built around Alnico 5 magnets. Finished in black and creme to match or contrast your guitar’s hardware. The set also includes a pack of Ernie Ball EB2222 Hybrid Slinky strings, so you’re ready to restring the moment the new pickups go in.
