Description
This DiMarzio set pairs two of the brand’s most versatile humbuckers, the DP193BC Air Norton in the neck and the DP155BC Tone Zone in the bridge, both finished in black and creme. A set of Elixir Custom Light strings is thrown in free.
The Air Norton was originally conceived as an Airbucker take on the Norton, meant for high-gain bridge duty. What DiMarzio actually stumbled onto was a neck pickup with real character: deep and warm without turning to mud, hot without smearing into distortion, and surprisingly rich in harmonic content for a neck humbucker. Its patented Air Norton magnetic structure cuts down on string pull, which frees up sustain and keeps pick attack expressive and controllable. Wired with 500K pots, it opens up nicely for treble and harmonic detail; it also plays well alongside single-coils like The Cruiser, The Chopper, and Blue Velvet.
The Tone Zone earns its reputation as a bridge pickup that can actually breathe. It’s hot enough to be called high output, but the dynamic range is wide – dig in and it roars, back off and it cleans up. Bass and low-mid response is substantial, giving single notes real depth and chords a big, full spread. Patented dual-resonance coils pull more overtones out of the pickup than you’d expect from something this fat-sounding, and it splits to a genuinely usable single-coil voice.
Recommended for solid body and semi-hollow guitars.
