Description
DiMarzio built the Air Norton as the Airbucker sibling to the Norton, expecting it to shine as a bridge pickup for high-gain rigs. Instead it turned out to be a phenomenal neck humbucker — deep, warm, and touch-sensitive, with cool harmonic overtones that most neck pickups simply don’t produce. The patented Air Norton magnetic structure cuts down on string pull, which means better sustain and far more control over pick dynamics. Drop it into a solid body or semi-hollow, pair it with 500K pots for extra treble sparkle, and it’ll balance beautifully against a wide range of bridge humbuckers.
On the bridge side sits the Tone Zone, DiMarzio’s answer to thin, buzzy bridge tones. It’s a genuinely hot pickup, but it’s got real dynamic range — dig in and it roars, back off and it cleans up nicely. Expect huge low-mids, a bottom end that reinforces the whole mix, and single notes that stay full and defined even at the top of the neck. The patented dual-resonance coils pull out more overtone complexity than you’d expect from a pickup this thick-sounding, and it splits cleanly into a solid single-coil voice when wired for it.
This set includes the DP193BC Air Norton neck and DP155BC Tone Zone bridge, both in black/creme, plus a free set of D’Addario EXL125 Super Light Top/Regular Bottom strings to get your rewired guitar back on stage fast.
