Description
This is one of DiMarzio’s most requested humbucker pairings for a reason: the DP193BK Air Norton in the neck and DP155BK Tone Zone in the bridge cover an enormous tonal range without stepping on each other. The Air Norton was originally conceived as an Airbucker take on the Norton, meant for high-gain bridge duty, but it turned out to be an even better neck pickup — warm and deep without turning to mud, hot without losing note definition, and surprisingly rich in harmonics for a neck humbucker. Its patented Air Norton magnetic structure cuts down on string pull, so sustain and dynamic response stay wide open under your pick hand. Try 500K pots if you want extra treble and harmonic sparkle out of it.
Down at the bridge, the Tone Zone solves the classic high-output problem of thin, buzzy aggression. It’s genuinely hot, but with a dynamic range that rewards touch — dig in for maximum push, back off for cleaner, quieter tones. Expect serious bass and low-mid weight, huge-sounding chords, and single notes with real depth, thanks to dual-resonance coils that pull more overtones than you’d expect from a pickup this fat. It also splits cleanly to a solid single-coil voice if your wiring supports it.
Both pickups use 4-conductor wiring and Alnico 5 magnets, and are built for solid body and semi-hollow guitars. This set ships with a free set of Elixir Custom Light guitar strings.
