Description
DiMarzio built the D Activator Bridge to chase a very specific feeling: the punchy, compressed-feeling attack that made active bridge pickups popular, without the flat, clinical tone and battery dependence that usually come with them. It’s fully passive, so you get real dynamic range — dig in hard and the note pushes back instead of choking, back off and it cleans up the way a good passive pickup should.
Under the hood, a ceramic magnet drives a focused, aggressive low-mid punch that slams the front of your amp. DiMarzio designed this pickup alongside the D Activator Neck as a matched pair — the bridge model runs about 25% hotter, but the output levels between the two are balanced so switching pickups doesn’t leave you fighting a volume jump.
Because it’s passive, pot values matter here: run at least 250K, with 500K as the reliable all-purpose choice, or step up to a 1Meg tone control if you’re dealing with long cable runs and want to preserve top end.
