The Air Norton S takes the musical, well-rounded character of DiMarzio’s original Air Norton and shrinks it down to fit a Stratocaster’s single-coil route. It skips the air-gap construction of the true Airbucker design, but the ceramic magnet and coil combo land close enough in tone, output, and feel that DiMarzio kept the family name.
Players first fell for this pickup in the neck slot of trem-loaded guitars chasing that lush, singing progressive rock tone, but don’t overlook it as a bridge option — its medium output and harmonic edge hold up nicely for rock rhythm work and single-note leads alike.
Looking to build out a full set? DiMarzio suggests pairing the Air Norton S with The Tone Zone S or Super Distortion S in the bridge, or dropping it into the bridge itself alongside a Pro Track or The Chopper up front. For the middle position, a Cruiser or Fast Track 1 adds brightness to positions 2, 3, and 4.
