Description
The Cruiser Bridge (DP187) is DiMarzio’s answer for Strat players who want traditional single-coil character minus the hum. Built with stacked coils instead of the usual side-by-side design, it kills 60-cycle buzz, string drop-out, and the sustain-robbing magnet pull that plagues vintage-style pickups — all while keeping harmonics and midrange right where a real single-coil player expects them.
It runs a bit hotter than a standard single-coil, with noticeably fatter low strings, making it a great match alongside medium-output humbuckers. There’s also a distinct midrange scoop unique to this bridge model that spreads highs and lows apart for bigger, more open-sounding chords. Because total magnetic pull is roughly 40% lower than a conventional single-coil, you can set The Cruiser closer to the strings for extra output without choking sustain.
Use it in any position, though it’s especially suited to the bridge slot paired with lower-output pickups in neck/middle, or flip that around and pair a hotter Cruiser bridge with a full-size humbucker elsewhere. It holds its tonal identity through high-gain amps and pedal chains just as well as it does clean.
