Description
Born from two years of chasing the exact snarl and clarity Steve Vai wanted out of his Ibanez JEMs, the Evolution set pairs a fat, punchy neck pickup with a tighter, more aggressive bridge pickup that hits noticeably louder. Both use DiMarzio’s dual-resonance design, which pulls extra harmonic overtones out of the string signal that a standard humbucker just can’t reach – so chords sound bigger and single notes cut with more identity, even under heavy gain.
This is the F-spaced version, built for guitars with trem-routed, wider string spacing at the bridge, and finished in white to match a pickguard or simply keep things clean-looking under the strings. Neither pickup is shy: they’re voiced for hot amps and players who already know how to control feedback and dynamics rather than hide behind them. That said, the presence and definition translate just as well in the studio, slicing through a dense mix instead of getting buried in it.
- DP158FW Evolution Neck – 4-conductor wiring, ceramic magnet, 294mV output, 13.04k ohm DC resistance
- DP159FW Evolution Bridge – 4-conductor wiring, ceramic magnet, 404mV output, 13.84k ohm DC resistance
- F-Spaced for trem-equipped guitars

Wire them independently or in a coil-split configuration thanks to the 4-conductor design, and expect a set that rewards aggressive playing with genuine harmonic complexity rather than just raw volume.
