Description
Two years of development went into the Evolution set before Steve Vai deemed it worthy of his Ibanez JEMs, and the result is a pickup pair that doesn’t do subtlety. DiMarzio’s patented dual-resonance design pulls extra harmonic content out of the strings that standard humbuckers simply can’t reach, giving both pickups a vocal, cutting quality that stays articulate even under heavy gain.
The DP158FW neck pickup is voiced fat and punchy without turning to mud on lower strings, while the DP159FW bridge model steps things up further with a tighter, more aggressive attack and noticeably more output. Together they’re built for players who want their amp pushed hard and their sound to bite back. Live, they cut through a wall of stage volume; in the studio, they carve through dense mixes instead of getting buried in them. This isn’t a set for beginners or clean-tone players — it rewards technique and an amp with some grit already in it.
Both pickups arrive in white, F-spaced for guitars with wider bridge string spacing, wired with 4-conductor cable for full coil-splitting and phase options.
