Description
Born from a two-year collaboration with Steve Vai to nail the exact voice his Ibanez JEMs demanded, the Evolution set pairs an aggressive bridge pickup with a neck unit that’s every bit as loud but rounder in the low end. Both use DiMarzio’s dual-resonance design, which pulls extra harmonic content out of the string that standard humbuckers leave behind — the result is a set that feels alive under your fingers rather than just loud.
This isn’t a set for players who want their tone to behave. Push it into a hot amp and the Evolutions respond with a burn that rewards technique and dynamics. On stage they cut through a wall of gain with total clarity, and in the studio that same presence and definition means they slice through dense mixes instead of getting buried in them. Ceramic magnets and 4-conductor wiring give you the output and flexibility to build a rig around them, whether you’re chasing shred tones or just want a humbucker set with real attitude.
This F-spaced (DP158FW neck / DP159FW bridge) set comes finished in white and includes a free set of D’Addario EXL125 Super Light Top/Regular Bottom strings.
