Description
Born from two years of chasing the exact snarl and clarity Steve Vai demanded for his Ibanez Jems, the Evolution set trades polite for ferocious. This isn’t a pickup pairing for the timid — it’s built for players who want their amp pushed and their notes to cut, whether on stage or buried in a dense mix.
- DP158FW Evolution Neck: F-spaced, ceramic magnet, 4-conductor wiring, 294mV output, 13.04 Kohm DC resistance. Fat, punchy, and loud without turning muddy.
- DP159FW Evolution Bridge: F-spaced, ceramic magnet, 4-conductor wiring, 404mV output, 13.84 Kohm DC resistance. Tighter and more aggressive than the neck, with extra bite for lead work.
Both pickups share DiMarzio’s patented dual-resonance design, which pulls out more harmonic overtones than a standard humbucker can manage — that’s the difference between a pickup that just sounds loud and one that actually sounds articulate at high gain. F-spaced construction keeps pole pieces aligned with wider-spaced bridge saddles, so every string gets even output.
This set is finished in clean white and includes a free set of D’Addario EXL110+ Regular Light Plus strings, so you’re ready to string up and dial in that Evolution snarl the moment your new pickups land.
Fair warning: these aren’t background-vocal pickups. Feed them a hot amp and some technique, and they’ll reward you with harmonic complexity most humbuckers can’t touch.
