Born from two years of chasing the exact tone Steve Vai needed for his Ibanez JEMs, the Evolution set is built for players who want their amp pushed hard and their pickups to keep up. Nothing about this pair is polite u2014 it’s voiced for high-gain rigs and confident hands.
- DP158FW Neck: Fat, punchy, and loud, with ceramic magnets and 4-conductor wiring for full coil-splitting flexibility. Output sits at 294mV with 13.04 Kohm DC resistance.
- DP159FW Bridge: Tighter and more aggressive than the neck, pushing 404mV output at 13.84 Kohm DC resistance, still ceramic-powered and 4-conductor wired.
Both pickups use DiMarzio’s patented dual-resonance design, pulling out extra harmonic overtones that standard humbuckers leave on the table. That translates to a sound with real cut u2014 built originally for live stages where definition matters, but sharp enough that it slices cleanly through dense studio mixes too. F-spacing means this set is dialed in for guitars with a floating/wide-spaced bridge, and the white covers keep things clean-looking on a light-colored top.
