Description
Born from two years of relentless tweaking to satisfy one of the pickiest ears in rock, the Evolution set was engineered alongside Steve Vai for his Ibanez JEMs. This isn’t a pickup for background rhythm work — it’s built for players who lead with attitude and want every note to cut.
- DP158FW neck: fat, punchy, and loud, with enough low-end push to anchor lead lines without going muddy
- DP159FW bridge: tighter and more aggressive, with extra output over the neck for a real gear-change in intensity when you flip pickups
- Both use DiMarzio’s dual-resonance design, pulling out harmonic overtones that standard humbuckers leave on the table
- Ceramic magnets and 4-conductor wiring on both units for coil-splitting and series/parallel wiring flexibility
- Neck: 294mV output, 13.04 Kohm DC resistance
- Bridge: 404mV output, 13.84 Kohm DC resistance
These aren’t polite pickups — pair them with a hot amp and they’ll reward aggressive playing with harmonic complexity and definition that survives even a dense mix, live or in the studio. This set arrives finished in white and includes a free set of D’Addario EXL110 Regular Light strings to get your guitar back up and running the moment the wiring’s done.
