Description
Born out of John Petrucci’s work on his Music Man JP13 and tracked on Dream Theater’s 2013 self-titled album, the Illuminator Bridge Model is built to do the heavy lifting in a two-pickup setup. Petrucci wanted real separation between his neck and bridge tones – not just a volume jump – and this pickup delivers that by pushing midrange punch forward, adding a touch more top-end bite, and keeping the low strings tight instead of letting them mush out when the gain gets pushed hard.
Dig in with a pick and it responds instantly – notes jump off the strings rather than compress into a wall of fuzz. That low-end control is the real payoff here: palm-muted riffing and fast alternate picking stay articulate even through a saturated amp, so nothing turns to sludge when you’re playing rhythmically aggressive parts.
This version comes F-spaced for guitars with a wider bridge string spread, wrapped in a nickel cover, and wound with 4-conductor wiring so you’ve got full flexibility for coil-splitting, series/parallel switching, or phase tricks if your wiring setup calls for it.
- Position: Bridge

If you’re chasing that Petrucci blend of aggression and clarity – tight low end, present mids, and highs that cut without turning brittle – this is the bridge half of that formula.
