The DiMarzio Model P is a drop-in replacement built for anyone tired of the flat, thin voice their stock Precision-style pickup leaves behind. It’s a two-piece, hum-cancelling design, so you get the classic P-Bass split-coil layout without the 60-cycle buzz working against your tone.
- Ceramic magnet delivers a stronger, more aggressive pull than typical alnico P pickups, translating into added gain and a tighter low end that doesn’t flub out under a pick or hard fingerstyle attack.
- Gutsy midrange keeps the pickup from getting lost once the band kicks in – dig in and you’ll find real growl waiting on the other side.
- 4-conductor wiring gives you the flexibility to wire it however your project demands, whether that’s simple series operation or something more custom.
On its own, the Model P nails that fat, authoritative P-Bass thump with just enough bite to stay audible in a dense mix. Pair it with a bridge-position DiMarzio Model J or Ultra Jazz and the tonal range opens up considerably – dial in anything from a punchy midrange bark to a warm, rounded bottom end with a crisp top-end snap layered on top.
