Description
The PAF Master series took the vintage humbucker formula and refined it without losing the plot — quiet, dynamic, and full of character rather than just loud. This set pairs the DP260BC neck model with the DP261FBC bridge model, an F-spaced version built to keep pole pieces lined up under trapeze-style string spacing.
Up front, the neck pickup runs Alnico 5 with 4-conductor wiring, putting out 193mV at 7.37 Kohm DC resistance. It’s voiced to stay clear and articulate rather than muddy — you get richness and a bit of throaty growl in the low mids, but treble stays smooth and creamy instead of harsh, and notes don’t collapse into each other under gain.
In the bridge, Alnico 4 magnets and 4-conductor wiring (1-conductor wiring optional) deliver 278mV at 7.69 Kohm. It’s the more aggressive half of the pair — touch-sensitive, snarly when picked hard, and equally happy handling chords as single-note runs. Together, neck and bridge trade off classic PAF warmth for improved clarity and dynamic response.
