Rather than relying on accidentally unbalanced coils to get that open, vintage character, DiMarzio tuned the coils to different frequencies using their own patented approach. You get the same lively, slightly asymmetrical voice without sacrificing hum-cancellation — so it stays dead quiet while still sounding alive under your fingers.
Wound with just enough turns to keep things articulate, this pickup sustains and sings without turning to mush. Full-bodied but never bloated, it lets individual notes cut through cleanly even in dense chords, topped off with smooth, creamy highs that avoid harshness.
