Description
This set pairs two of DiMarzio’s most versatile humbuckers into one cohesive, high-headroom rig. The PAF Pro (DP151) takes the neck slot, built for players who need clarity that survives a busy pedalboard. Rather than smearing into mush under gain and modulation, it keeps its shape — punchy low end, a distinctive mid-range ‘aw’ vowel character reminiscent of a parked wah, and treble that cuts without turning glassy or harsh. Its moderate output (300mV, 8.4k DC resistance, Alnico 5, 4-conductor) makes it just as comfortable as a bridge pickup when you want PAF-style openness instead of raw power.
Anchoring the bridge is the Tone Zone (DP155), DiMarzio’s answer to thin, buzzy-sounding hot pickups. It’s genuinely high-output (375mV, 17.31k DC resistance, Alnico 5, 4-conductor) but keeps a real dynamic spread — dig in and it roars, back off and it cleans up nicely. Low end and low-mids are reinforced without burying single notes, so leads stay defined and chords sound massive rather than muddy. Its dual-resonance coil design pulls out more overtone detail than you’d expect from a pickup this fat, and it splits cleanly into a usable single-coil tone.
Together, the PAF Pro and Tone Zone form a balanced two-humbucker voice: articulate up top, aggressive down low, and equally at home for rhythm and lead work. Both pickups arrive in matching creme covers.
