This set pairs two of DiMarzio’s most versatile humbuckers for players who want vintage character without sacrificing modern punch. The PAF Pro (DP151) lives in the neck, delivering the transparent, open voice of a classic PAF but with enough presence and cut to survive heavy processing and high-gain rigs where muddier pickups disappear. Expect snappy, chunky lows, a subtle mid-range “aw” vowel character reminiscent of a wah parked mid-sweep, and treble that stays articulate without turning brittle. It’s flexible enough to work in nearly any position, though it truly shines up front.
Anchoring the bridge is the Tone Zone (DP155), built for players who want serious output without the shrill, buzzing-insect edge some hot bridge pickups suffer from. Its dynamic range responds honestly to pick attack — dig in for full power, back off for cleaner, quieter tones. Patented dual-resonance coils give it surprising overtone complexity for a pickup with this much low-end muscle, so single notes retain depth and chords sound massive. It also splits cleanly for convincing single-coil tones, and pairs well with an Air Norton, PAF Joe, or the included PAF Pro.
Both pickups arrive in creme covers with 4-conductor wiring and Alnico 5 magnets, giving you full coil-splitting and phase options when you wire them up. The set also includes a pack of Ernie Ball EB2221 Regular Slinky strings, so you can restring as you install.
