This DiMarzio set pairs two of the company’s most respected humbuckers to cover both ends of the tonal spectrum without stepping on each other. The PAF Pro (DP151BK) handles neck duties with the kind of open, articulate PAF character that was engineered for players cutting through high-gain rigs and rack processing back in the ’80s — and it still does the job today. Instead of getting swallowed by distortion or effects, it stays present, with snappy low end, a hint of that classic “aw” vowel midrange bark, and treble that stays clear instead of turning glassy or harsh. It’s flexible enough to work in either position, but really shines up front.
In the bridge, the Tone Zone (DP155BK) brings serious push without flattening your dynamics. Dig in and it roars; back off and it cleans up nicely, thanks to patented dual-resonance coils that pull more overtone content out of the pickup than you’d expect from something this hot. Low end and low-mids are reinforced heavily, giving chords real size and single notes surprising depth. Split it to single-coil mode and you still get a usable, characterful tone.
Together, they form a genuinely complementary set — bright, cutting neck tone balanced against a big, dynamic bridge voice. A set of D’Addario EXL110 Regular Light strings is included at no extra cost.
