Description
This DiMarzio set pairs two of the brand’s most enduring humbuckers, chosen specifically to complement each other’s strengths. In the neck slot sits the PAF Pro (DP151BK), designed back in 1986 to answer a specific problem: how do you keep open, vintage PAF character while still cutting through high-gain amps and rack processing without turning to mud? Its Alnico 5 magnet and 4-conductor wiring deliver a distinctive mid-range spike (that vowel-like “aw” quality), snappy-yet-chunky lows, and treble that stays articulate rather than harsh. At 8.4k DC resistance and roughly 300mV output, it’s versatile enough for neck or bridge duty when you don’t need maximum gain.
Loaded into the bridge is the Tone Zone (DP155FBK) in an F-spaced configuration to keep pole pieces aligned under each string. With 17.31k DC resistance and about 375mV output, it’s genuinely hot, but DiMarzio’s patented dual-resonance coils give it a dynamic range that responds to pick attack — dig in for serious power, back off for cleaner tones. Bass and low-mid presence are substantial, giving chords real size and single notes surprising depth, while retaining more overtone content than most high-output pickups manage. It also splits cleanly for convincing single-coil tones.
Together, these two pickups are a proven combination for players who want vintage-informed clarity up front and controlled aggression at the bridge. This set includes:
- DiMarzio PAF Pro neck humbucker (DP151BK), black, Alnico 5, 4-conductor
- DiMarzio Tone Zone F-spaced bridge humbucker (DP155FBK), black, Alnico 5, 4-conductor
- Free set of D’Addario NYXL1046 Regular Light strings
