Born from John Petrucci’s Music Man JP16, the Sonic Ecstasy Neck (DP269F) is voiced for players who want size and saturation without the tone turning into mush. DiMarzio leans into mids and lows here, giving you a broad, powerful foundation that stays clear even under heavy gain.
Petrucci designed this pickup to pair with its bridge counterpart, but on its own the neck position version brings a slightly different personality: the same thick, heavy character, plus a touch of extra air and a liquid quality that follows your picking hand closely, whether you’re phrasing slow legato lines or tearing through fast alternate-picked runs. It’s a modern high-output pickup that manages to stay articulate instead of collapsing into a blurry low end, which is the usual trade-off with fat-voiced humbuckers.
This is the F-spaced version, built for guitars with a floating or Floyd-style bridge where the pole pieces need to line up with wider string spacing. It’s the only spacing DiMarzio offers for the Sonic Ecstasy series.
