Description
If your bridge pickup turns every solo into a shrill mosquito swarm, the DiMarzio Tone Zone is built to fix that. It runs hot enough to be classed as a high-output humbucker, but it doesn’t flatten your playing into one volume — dig in and it roars, back off and it cleans up, giving you a dynamic range that tracks your pick attack instead of steamrolling it.
Low end and low-mids get serious reinforcement here, so the overall voice feels bigger and more substantial without turning to mush. Single notes up high keep their depth, and chords come across huge and full. The patented dual-resonance coil design is the secret to why a pickup this fat still throws off more overtones than you’d expect — it’s thick without being dark or lifeless.
Alnico 5 magnet, 4-conductor wiring for coil-splitting flexibility, 375mV output, and 17.31 Kohm DC resistance round out the spec sheet. Split it and you get a genuinely usable single-coil tone, not just a thin afterthought.
- Pairs especially well with an Air Norton, PAF Joe, or PAF Pro in the neck
- Neck-position alternatives worth exploring: Air Classic, Air Zone, PAF Pro, or FRED
- Also plays nicely with hotter single-coil replacements like The Cruiser or Fast Track 1
Finish: Black/Cream. Wiring: 4-Conductor. Magnet: Alnico 5. Output: 375mV. DC Resistance: 17.31 Kohm.
