Born out of Billy Sheehan’s relentless demands on his rig, the Will Power Middle is DiMarzio’s answer to a P-style pickup that hits harder without losing definition. It’s the exact pickup found in Billy’s signature Yamaha basses, developed alongside its neck-position counterpart to give his system the punch and control he needed on stage.
Tonally, it sits in the same family as the classic DiMarzio Model P, but the Will Power Middle widens the magnetic field to push more energy into each note. The result is a pickup that feels more aggressive under the fingers, with mid-range that cuts through a mix and harmonic overtones that carry further. If you’ve felt like your P-style tone needed more shove without turning muddy, this is built for exactly that.
Like its neck-position sibling, it’s a humbucking design wired with 4 conductors, so you’ve got the flexibility to run it in standard humbucking mode or split the coils for a different flavor entirely. The ceramic magnet keeps output strong and the attack snappy, making it a solid choice for players who dig in hard and want the pickup to keep up.
