Description
A decade after the original 57/66 set became a modern rock and metal staple, EMG has given it a switchable twist. The 57/66 TW uses a three-coil design per pickup, letting you toggle between humbucker output and a convincingly clear single-coil voice without leaving your guitar’s cavity open for surgery.
- The 66 neck pickup blends ceramic and alnico magnets in one hybrid coil structure. In humbucker mode it’s the same smooth, articulate neck tone players know; flip to single-coil and the ceramic/alnico pairing keeps that voice surprisingly full-bodied and clear rather than thin.
- The 57 bridge pickup pairs alnico with steel for a more aggressive, high-resonance character built for riffing. Its single-coil mode stays seamless and musical, carrying pick attack with real clarity instead of the usual coil-split compromise.
Both pickups arrive active and ready to install using EMG’s solderless harness, which includes a push-pull pot per pickup for coil switching plus two standard tone controls — enough flexibility to wire into most two-humbucker guitars without a soldering iron in sight.
If you loved the original 57/66 pairing but wanted single-coil access on tap, this is that set, sharpened for another decade of use.
