Description
The EMG BQC is a 3-band active EQ preamp built into a space-saving control set, giving you bass and treble shaping on one stacked (concentric) pot and independent mid control on the other. That’s a full three-band tone stack squeezed into the footprint of two standard pots, which makes it a great option if you’re retrofitting a guitar or bass that wasn’t drilled for a bunch of extra controls.
Because the BQC is a true active preamp, it doesn’t care what kind of pickups you’re running it with — active EMGs, passive humbuckers, single coils, whatever’s already in the guitar. You get the same sweepable bass and treble boost/cut, plus a dedicated mid knob, either way. It’s a straightforward way to add real EQ shaping to a passive setup without ripping out your pickups, or to round out an all-EMG active rig.
Everything you need to wire it up is in the box:
- 2 concentric (stacked) knob sets
- 2 extra knobs
- Output jack
- Battery clip set
Installation follows EMG’s standard wiring conventions, and EMG provides a dedicated BQC Control installation guide to walk you through it. As with any active preamp, plan for a 9V battery to power it — not included, but any guitarist swapping to active electronics should already have one on hand.
