Description
Music Man’s oversized soapbar pickup reshaped what bass players expected from a single pickup, and the EMG MM-CS is built to slot straight into those basses without any routing or wiring headaches. It shares the same wide-set dual coils (1″ bobbin spacing) and generous coil surface area as the original design, but runs on EMG’s active CS circuitry for a noticeably more refined, hi-fi voice.
CS stands for Ceramic and Steel, and that combo is the heart of this pickup’s character. Ceramic magnets keep the top end open and articulate rather than dark or muddy, while the added steel boosts inductance for a low end that’s deep, warm, and genuinely powerful without turning to mush. It’s a pickup equally at home laying down a punchy, clean groove or dialing back into something round and warm for slower material – a lot of tonal range from one soapbar.
Since it’s an active EMG design, everything needed to get it running is included:
- EMG’s exclusive Quik-Connect cable
- Prewired solid-shaft volume/tone control set
- Output jack
- Battery clip set
- Adjustment screws
Finish is black only, matching the standard soapbar cover most Music Man 4-strings ship with. If your bass is crying out for tighter lows and clearer highs without sacrificing that big Music Man growl, the MM-CS is the direct swap to make it happen.
