Description
Think of the EMG-S as the EMG-SA’s brighter sibling. Same active circuitry and construction, same output level, but EMG swapped the Alnico magnet for ceramic — and that one change shifts the voice noticeably upward, pushing more energy into the upper-mid and high-frequency range. The result leans toward the snap and chime you’d hear from later-era Strat pickups, but with the consistency and noise-free performance that only active electronics deliver.
EMG’s Tone Modeling process is what keeps this pickup from sounding harsh despite the added brightness. Instead of raw treble, you get sparkle with real definition underneath it — depth and sensitivity that let your picking dynamics come through clearly. It’s precise enough that players who lean on technique rather than pedals tend to gravitate toward it; Vince Gill is one notable example who’s used the EMG-S to keep his phrasing articulate on record and stage.
Everything needed to wire it up comes in the box:
- EMG’s exclusive Quik-Connect cable
- Prewired split-shaft volume/tone control set
- Output jack
- Battery clip set
- Screws & springs
Cover caps are available in Black, White, or Ivory, so it’ll blend right into whatever Strat-style build you’re working on.
