EMG got there by pairing traditional copper-wound coils and ceramic pole pieces with a newly engineered plug-on preamp, so you keep the open-coil vintage look while gaining a low-impedance, dead-quiet signal path.
What makes this set so playable is how much of the tone shaping lives in your hands. Back off the volume and pick softly for glassy, articulate cleans; push harder and the Super 77 breaks up into a dirtier, more aggressive voice without you ever touching a knob. It’s a passive-style pickup wearing an active pickup’s noise floor, which means it slots into rock, blues, funk, or heavier styles with equal confidence.
This particular set comes in black with short shaft (Strat-style) 10mm construction and Floyd Rose string spacing, ready to drop into a floating-bridge setup. Installation is entirely solderless – EMG’s plug & play system means no iron, no guesswork, just clean connections.
