Description
Fender pulled apart an actual 1963 Stratocaster to get these right, and it shows. The Original ’57/’62 set is the company’s answer to players who want the real vintage-Strat character — that airy top end, the woody midrange, and lows that stay tight instead of flabby — without hunting down a genuinely old guitar to get it.
Formvar-coated magnet wire is a big part of the recipe here, lending extra sparkle and a slightly glassy edge to the highs that modern insulation just doesn’t replicate. Alnico 5 magnets under the hood push a bit more pull and dynamic snap versus softer alnico grades, while the staggered, hand-beveled polepieces even out string-to-string volume so nothing gets buried in the mix.
- Cloth-wrapped wiring and fiber bobbins, period-correct in feel and construction
- Aged white cover option for a broken-in look
- Balanced output profile across neck, middle, and bridge — each rated 5 bass / 4 mid / 6 treble
- Consistent 5.6k ohms DC resistance on all three pickups
Everything you need to get the set into a guitar ships in the box: mounting screws, height-adjustment tubing, and a wiring diagram, so it’s ready to drop into your Strat build or restoration project.
These are the same pickups found in Fender’s American Vintage Stratocaster line, offered here as a standalone set for anyone rewiring, upgrading, or chasing that specific early-’60s tone.
