Description
Passive Strat wiring keeps things simple, but it also caps how much midrange punch you can coax out of single-coils. The Eric Clapton Preamp Mid-Boost Kit changes that equation by adding an active circuit stage that pushes gain and fattens up the midrange on nearly any Stratocaster-style pickup set, giving you a more sculpted, aggressive tone alongside the usual glassy Strat sparkle.
At the heart of the kit is a primary PCB board that houses the active mid-boost circuit, paired with a TBX tone pot for sweeping between warm and bright tonal territory, plus dedicated volume and tone potentiometers for shaping your signal further. Rounding out the build are an output jack, a capacitor, a 1/4-watt resistor, all necessary mounting hardware, a clear wiring diagram, and setup instructions to walk you through installation.
This is a wiring and electronics upgrade, not a full pickguard swap — your pickups and pickup selector switch stay put, since neither is included in the kit. That makes it a straightforward way to inject some active-circuit muscle into an existing Strat build without reworking the whole guitar.
What’s in the box:
- Primary PCB board with mid-boost circuit
- TBX tone potentiometer
- Volume and tone potentiometers
- Output jack
- Capacitor and 1/4-watt resistor
- Mounting hardware
- Wiring diagram and setup instructions
Ideal for players who want the flexibility of active mid-boost tone shaping without abandoning their favorite Stratocaster pickups.
